The café was made into an attractive meeting place by locating it to a central position.
High tables for ad hoc meetings and reading magazines.
A textile mat was installed to the café on both floors to soften the acoustics.
Different floors were personalized using colors: The color scheme of the café on the 6th floor mixes different shades of green.
Space dividers are placed between the hallway and the library to create a fixed point to the long hallway. The graphics in the dividers portray scientific research.
International and domestic publications are well presented in the roomy magazine rack.
The standing table is suitable for reading magazines or work using a laptop, alone or in collaboration with others.
The square shape of the tables makes various table set ups/formations possible. When needed, the café can be used for internal meetings.
The light curtains separate the café from the hallway and calms the view next to the working rooms.
Different floors were personalized using colors: The color scheme of the café on the 7th floor mixes different shades of blue.
The old furniture of the Academy of Finland was utilized to a great extent in the project. The chairs of the old assembly hall were reupholstered and moved to the new café.
The lounge facilities serve as a waiting lobby for visitors and a place to arrange ad hoc meetings.
The showcase for presents received by the Academy of Finland was custom-made. The showcase also contains plenty of room for storage behind the doors.
Academy of Finland: Adding character to the facilities by using zones
The Academy of Finland moved to new facilities with the aim of making space utilization more efficient than before. The old facilities did not communicate the intended public image.
We created a solution for the facilities, whereupon the space was divided into a semi-public and private zone. An image of an active and modern academic operator was portrayed to the customers.
For the employees, we created a working environment that improves internal communication, collaboration between units and the sharing of expertise. We located the personnel meeting place and library to the most central position.
The project was done together with Senate Properties.
